What is the difference between a grade of "W" or "WF" when it comes to withdrawing from a course?

To receive a grade of "W" (indicating a withdrawal without academic penalty), you must complete the withdrawal form and submit it to the Registrar's Office before the close of business on the designated "Last Day to Receive a W" for your course, as noted in the academic calendar

If the withdrawal is executed after this date, you will be assigned a grade of "WF" (indicating withdrawal with academic penalty). Exceptions can be made if the Department Chair approves a grade of "W."
