Guidance for Instructor Contact Minutes:

Length of live session and recording (maximum of 60 minutes per Zoom session suggested)

Often an instructor interacts with students in their asynchronous groups to advise and connect. This can be about one hour a week of instructor contact time.

Zoom:

Create breakout rooms in Zoom (breakout rooms are NOT recorded, just main Zoom room)

  • While you're in your meeting - choose “More” on the bottom toolbar
  • Click on Breakout Rooms
  • Decide how many breakout rooms you would like
  • Determine if you want your students to be automatically assigned, assigned manually, or Let the participants choose room.
  • Click Create

Teams:

Create breakout rooms

  • Join your Teams meeting
  • Click on the Rooms icon on the top menu bar in the teams meeting - It looks like a small-rounded square inside a larger one.
  • Type in the number of rooms you want formed.
  • Assign Members - Select to either have Teams add members to the breakout rooms or you can do so manually.
  • Click Create rooms
  • Click on settings and make changes that fit your needs
  • Click Save
