Instructor Contact Time Guidance
Length of synchronous (live) scheduled and recorded session is up to the faculty member. A maximum of 60 minutes per MS Teams session is suggested.
Creating a MS Teams Join Link
- Open Teams
- Click on +New Meeting in top right corner
- Name the meeting - You do NOT have to add your students
- Set the Date and Time
- Indicate Online Meeting
- Save
- In course Teams Calendar, right click on the event.
- Copy the meeting link provided.
Adding Meeting Link to D2L Course
- Open D2L
- Go to your course
- Click on Announcements then click New Announcement
- Add a Headline
- Add the test of your message about the Teams Meeting,. then paste the link into the message.
- Note: You can also highlight a word in your message, click on the link icon (two links of a chain), then paste the link in the Link text box. - The later is preferred for accessibility and is referred to as a descriptive link.
- Click Publish
Recording Your Meeting
- Join your meeting via the meeting link or from your calendar event
- Click on the ellipse-like (…) in the top menu bar, select Record.
- The recording will end when you end the meeting. The recording of the meeting will be posted in the on-going meeting chat in Teams.
- Click the ellipse-like (…) icon in the message with the video, select Get link
- See above to add the recording link to your course. You can also email it to students.
- Please post the transcript with your recording.
Creating Breakout Rooms
- Join your Teams meeting
- Click on the Rooms icon on the top menu bar in the teams meeting - It looks like a small-rounded square inside a larger one.
- Type in the number of rooms you want formed.
- Assign Members - Select to either have Teams add members to the breakout rooms or you can do so manually.
- Click Create rooms
- Click on settings and make changes that fit your needs
- Click Save
